Just a thought
There used to be times when a computer helped a writer. Provided simple tools to focus on composition. Enough screen area to frame a thought. An unsophisticated medium to save a piece of work — a piece of work worth saving.
More importantly, it would not distract. It would sit quietly waiting for letters to be typed or editing commands to be issued. Unaware that it was a virtue rather than a disadvantage, the conputer did not offer any means to switch to another task, look up the current word in a thesaurus, make the sentence bold, or italic, or purple on red background. Or to catch up with the news, to like a photo which had just popped up, to get burried in tweets, to hate a hater and to love a meme, to multitask or fork, let the mind wander away, caffeinate the thought that had been, but no longer was.
